Blessing of cars - July 26, 2026

On Sunday, July 26th, in honor of the Feast of the Holy Prophet Elijah, who was taken up to Heaven by God in a fiery chariot, we asked the Lord's blessing for our combustion engines.

A man and a woman crossing the street with Fr. Aleksey, who is wearing a bright, golden-colored vestment. The woman is to his right, and she's wearing a black dress with large tan and white flowers. The man to her right is wearing a navy blue polo and khaki pants. Cars parked in front of houses are visible in the background.

Fr. Aleksey stands with his back facing the camera as he blesses a while car in front of hime. A few other cars, spaced far apart, are visible in the photo, with houses and a couple of large trees in the background.

A man is standing on the side of his black car, which is to his left side as he faces the right side of the photo. The car is parked on a hill, and from the viewer's perspective, Fr. Aleksey is standing to the right of the man, on the downhill side, as he blesses the man and his car. The front of the car points uphill, to the left side of the photo, and the rectory is shown in the background. The rectory has white siding with light green bricks on the bottom.

Fr. Aleksey is in the center of the frame with his back towards the camera as he blesses a tan sedan. There's a sign that says no outlet to the his left and above his head, with a sign reading watch children below it. Houses, trees, and a few other cars are visible in the background.
